New works by Carl F.K. Pao and Kūpaʻa Hee

"Makakolu"— loosely translated as "Three Eyes"— is the third installment in a series of exhibitions inspired by the core word "maka." The show includes last year's "Makalua" ("Two Eyes") artists Carl F.K. Pao and Charlton Kūpaʻa Hee, with the addition of a new collaborator, Cory K.H. Taum. Both Hee and Taum were students of Pao when they attended Kamehameha Schools Kapālama High School. Now, the three continue to inspire and inform each other as they explore their shared Kanaka Maoli heritage through diverse yet unified perspectives. Together, this Kanaka Maoli troika interprets the past in the present to inspire the future.
