A spoken dance by Shebana Coelho, a writer/director originally from India, now based in NM, combining original poetry, memoir and choreography drawn from flamenco & Sanskrit classical theatre, dramatizing the different ways we are colonized by culture, emotions... and the journey to liberation.

The fear of being your true self is certainly at the heart of the show.

The core poem, The Good Manners of Colonized Subjects is all about being frozen with fear, even when the dancers and singers and the stage comes to call...and overcoming fear by embracing it, by taking it into the dance - only to realize that's all fear wants, to be embraced, and that's all you need to do - embrace it - to liberate yourself.
