The Love Cafe

The Love Cafe is an audience interactive, cabaret-style, sing a long, variety show with all live music, singing, and dancing. Featuring local performers Ruth Shiroma Foster and Becky McGarvey, teaming up to show off their skills with their favorite love songs from across the decades. Two women, one night ONLY. Saturday Sept 28, 8pm at the ARTS at Marks Garage, doors open at 7:30pm. Tickets are $15 presale at https://thelovecafe4.eventbrite.com, and $20 at the door.

The Love Cafe is an all live show, there is no recorded music. Ruth Shiroma Foster will be on piano, ukulele, and vocals, while Becky McGarvey sings, dances, and jokes. There will be tap dancing, drinking games, sing alongs and dance alongs, with a mix of funky songs including covers of James Brown and Prince.

Ruth Shiroma Foster is a pianist, vocalist, ukulele player and songwriter. Ruth brings listeners to the intimate side of every song she sings, whether accompanying herself on the piano or ukulele. Ruth is musically rooted in gospel music, but her piano and vocal training has included jazz and classical music. Ruth has performed at various venues around town, including Medici, Hawaii Public Radio, The Dragon Upstairs and Chuck's Cellar. In addition to being a lifelong musician and music educator, Ruth is a writer, photographer, filmmaker, and handbag and clothes designer.

Becky McGarvey is a dancer, choreographer, actor, and producer. She dances with IONA Contemporary Dance Theatre, and Divino Ritmo. She has choreographed for the Hawaii Shakespeare Festival, Playbuilders of Hawaii Theatre Company, StageLeft Summer Theatre Program, and has produced and choreographed work for the Oahu Fringe Festival. This year she devised and directed Playbuilders' White Rabbit Lost in Chinatown for the Oahu Fringe Festival, and devised and choreographed work with The Robena Collective and Taimane Gardner.
