in 2006, Cherry Blossom Cabaret (CBC) is Hawai‘i 's Premier Burlesque Revue.
Seductive, provocative and at times outlandish, CBC is your ticket to a surreal
and exotic adventure that will captivate from beginning to end. The ladies do
more than shimmy and shake out of their costumes; they also dance act and sing,
while incorporating what they do best: Tease. Those who see CBC perform will be
amazed by the group’s diverse jaw-dropping repertoire. The Honolulu based
cabaret has various influences ranging from vaudeville style theatre, b-grade
horror and science fiction, film noir, kitsch, historical and political satire,
comedic sketches fused with an eclectic array of music and of course the classy
yet sassy art of tease! Also, check out their Academy of Tease burlesque classes being held at The ARTS at Marks Garage and The ARTSmith in the Chinatown Artist Lofts. The group’s vision is to use improv to create and produce thought provoking and stimulating new works. In addition to creating new works the group also helps produce other artists and events such as the annual Improvaganza! Hawaii Festival of Improv. Improvaganza! is a gathering and celebration of Improvised theatre in all its diverse expressions. It is Hawaii’s only festival dedicated to improv comedy & theatre with a weekend of improv performances, workshops, and events. Since 2006, Improvaganza! has showcased more than 60 acts from all over the world. formed in 1999, and has since carved a niche position in the state, promoting international
theater, dance, circus and music in Honolulu and across Hawai‘i from such
diverse places as New Zealand, Russia, Ireland, Australia, New York and more. TBP has co-produced with the University of Hawaii Outreach College, has produced Hawaii Tourism Authority’s Hawaii Arts Season, has presented a series of Hawaiian Music Nights at the Hawaii Convention Center, and a series of outdoor concerts at the Hawaii State Art Museum called Live from the Lawn. In 2010 TBP produced the Bishop Museum Moonlight Mele on the Lawn concerts at Bishop Museum. TBP is a partner at the ARTS at Marks Garage, and a member of the Arts District Merchants Association of Honolulu, the Performing Arts Presenters of Honolulu, the Chinatown Community Association, the U.S. Association of Performing Arts Presenters and Arts with Aloha.
